Getting There, Sleeping and Eating
How to get there?
Location and Route
The Ameixial village is located in the heart of Serra do Caldeirão, in the interior of the municipality of Loulé (Algarve), close to the border with the municipality of Almodovar (Alentejo) and is crossed by the mythical National Road 2. Depending on where you're coming from, head south or north along the EN2 until you reach Ameixial. This is the best reference for location. If you're coming from the A2, take Exit 13, towards the N393 Almodovar/Gomes Aires and then follow the National 2 until you arrive at Ameixial. If you're coming from the A22, exit at Loulé and head north to Ameixial..

Vegetarian and Vegan Options
In every edition, the organisation establishes partnerships to expand the gastronomic options on Ameixial and make up for the limited choice of these diets in the mountain villages, responding to the growing demand for them among hikers.
In 2025 we have Street Food Van Pucarinho, a gastronomic project by Marco Brás, a resident of Ameixial village.
As well as vegetarian options, it also serves other snacks and grilled meats, with a taste of Serra do Caldeirão.
Booking Meals
To simplify the management of meals in Ameixial's establishments on festival days, the organisation is facilitating the advance booking of meals for WFA participants.
A Booking Form is available for this purpose after registrations have been confirmed.
When making a reservation, participants should be aware of the length of their walk and the timetable of other activities they are taking part in.
The menus will be publicised after registration opens.
